Duty Statement:
As a member of human services and social work team, you will facilitate outcomes for those we serve by providing person-centered, innovative, and successful solutions. This role will report directly to the Case Manager and the Director of Client Services. This position will be offered in the designated service areas of those we serve including Culver City, Mar Vista, Inglewood, Hawthorne, Lawndale, Gardena, West Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu. Duties/Responsibilities:
-Work with those we serve in their homes and communities while keeping the individual serve's best interests in mind.
-Foster "Person-Centered Thinking " and "Motivational Approach" of training and support during the provision of services.
-Be a positive role model in all circumstances and environments by displaying a professional attitude, demeanor, and boundaries.
-Create and sustain an atmosphere that encourages development and learning.
-Training and support that are needed may include behavior management, medical fragility management, household management, nutrition management, appointment management, participation in social-recreation activities, incontinence care, personal care including hygiene and grooming, and other tasks that are part of those we serve's "activities of daily living."
-Implement daily, weekly, and monthly programming that is tailored to the individual’s person-centered IPP and ISP objectives in order to engage and assist them in achieving their goals.
-In circumstances in which the individual served is unable to voice their needs, wants and desires, the direct care staff will advocate on their behalf. Such advocacy may include helping them use their AAC device or analyzing their communication style based on gestures, facial expression, head movements, etc.
-Practice discretion and sound professional judgment, bearing in mind the responsibility that you, individually and the agency have for the care and welfare of those we serve.
-Maintain a professional demeanor and be pro-active in your communication with those we serve, parents, and members of the family, social workers, employers, and colleagues.
-In a way that is concise, professional, and accurate; document the progress and work in progress of those we serve and record the relevant information for the daily case notes.
-Handle the essential administrative tasks and record keeping, including filling of case notes, client time sheets, behavioral monitoring sheets, social leisure activities, and any other documentation that may be considered necessary.
-Take part in the obligatory training and staff meetings that occur on a regular basis within the agency.
-Timely reporting of special incidences by informing the management immediately for any unusual incidents.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
-Must have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities that includes diagnosis or diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and other related conditions for a minimum of 1 year.
-Must have proven experience as a Direct Care Staff for a minimum of 1 year. More years of experience is a plus.
-Must be willing to be trained and adapt to the rules, policies, and best practices of the agency.
-Must have outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
-Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-Must have the ability to be a team player by collaborating with supervisors and other team members.
-Must be proficient in MS Office and other word processing software; Direct Care Staffs will need to write daily case notes.
-Must have a minimum of High School diploma or GED.
-Driving is required; must have a current driver’s license with clean driving record and a minimum of 3 years driving experience.
-Must be able to communicate in English, bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
-Must be eligible to work in the United States. We E-Verify.
Available Schedule:
Various shifts are available (both part time and full time)
-Sunday to Thursday 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm, 10pm to 6am.
-Saturday to Wednesday 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm, 10pm to 6am.
-Saturday and Sunday 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm, 10pm to 6am.
Direct Care Staff will be required to work at least one weekend per week.
This is a non-exempt position. Hourly wage is depending on schedule, experience, and work location. We pay $19.00 to $25.00 per hour.
